Breast implant possible rupture options

Hello
After months of pain and possible lump finally have had myself seen and likely Implant rupture to be confirmed by MRI shortly.

11 year old implants. Not felt great for the last year and the recent lump and constant pain.

I now feel like a fool for the vanity experienced in my younger days when you think you are invincible and looks matter only to be at an age now where by I am comfortable with myself.

Consultant has suggested remove and replaced if concerned rupture as I’d have empty sacs of simply remove.

looking for experience of other of similar situation and what’s options.

I had this appointment on private medical.

well aware I will have to pay for replacement but has anyone any experience of private medical paying for removal part if now a medical an issue?

Feeling emotional now with the thought of surgery and also extremely grateful consultant confident it’s not more sinister.

If I could give my younger self advice it would be not to have had the enlargement.

Thanks

Sorry to hear that, OP. How old are you? I believe surgeons recommend that they be replaced every ten years due to the risks of them degrading and rupturing. I’m not sure if part of it would be covered. Perhaps it would if you wanted removal/reconstruction rather than more implants? If you’re young that might be the better option, unless you’re okay with further surgeries.

Surgeons really ought to be clear that this is something that requires lifelong maintenance though, not portray it as one and done. I know many tend to gloss over that part.

I’m 43 so looks like a couple more surgeries required!
