Annoyed I didn’t get the job

The other week someone I know rang me up and said there was a job going and would I be interested, I said yes and they said if I do an application and go through the interview the job will be mine and they think I should go for it and they’ve spoken to their manager and they are happy to take me on however I have to go through the interview process.
Had the interview and within an hour she rang me back to say sorry but we have decided to give the job to someone else however we will keep you in mind for the future.
I feel so annoyed about this as she pretty much said they are keen to take me on and they wanted me to go for it but then said I haven’t got the job.
They gave me good feedback from the interview though. I feel like I wish I hadn’t gone to the effort now.

Yes because they misled you into wasting time and getting your hopes up.
It's shoddy behaviour. No one really has the authority to guarantee a job before all candidates have been interviewed.

Yes and if they came back I wouldn't take the job, they sound a bit flaky. Mind you I once didn't get an internal job which I had been doing for 6 months because I "didn't have the right personality" ... A few years later I was the boss of the appointing manager...guess who was made redundant in a close call situation?
