To think my sore throat for 3 weeks is something else?

I've had a sore throat for about 3 weeks. I initially had some kind of cold virus, but that's mostly gone, then some weird white spot in my throat that was resolved with antibiotics...but now it's just this weird, itchy feeling in my throat that's left, but I don't actually feel unwell anymore? It's also on and off, which is weird, as normally things gradually get better.

Sometimes it'll be totally fine, but then it'll randomly start hurting/feeling irritated, and I can't figure out what it is/what's going on. Anyone had this? Reluctant to go to the GP with a sore throat....and impossible to get an appointment at my GP surgery at the moment.

Hayfever is crazy right now. Itchy ears, itchy throats etc. Try a Loratidine see if that helps.

However, am not a doctor… and so obvs keep an eye on it!

If you’ve had a nasty throat infection your throat will be healing and you can expect it to be a bit tickly/hoarse/sensitive for a while.

It's definitely a period of recurring viral infections since Christmas. There hasn't been a full week when my son, husband or I haven't had a cough, cold or sore throat unfortunately. Currently have absolutely no voice which my DH is delighted about. I wouldn't be concerned.

Might have been strep – that took me weeks and weeks to get over fully.

I suggest you go to a pharmacy. They can give advice and also prescribe if necessary. That way you’re don’t have to book a GP appointment.

Just had my son at the GP this morning after having a sore throat for nearly a week without improving, she said it's viral, there is a lot about just now and could take a few weeks to go away.

Have you had a look at your tonsils? If you have any white spots it could be bacterial which would need antibiotics.

It’s brought me some comfort reading this Thankyou. I’ve had almost three months of on off dry or scratchy and sore throats it’s wearing me down. Like what is going on? So many viruses just constantly circulating.
