To ask you where I bought my sideboard?

I am trying to sell my lovely sideboard which we bought back in 2007. I cannot for the life of me think of the shop we bought it from so that I can mention this in my post. It was a large furniture chain on a retail park type thing. We also bought a bed from Bensons for Beds at the same time, but they only do bedroom furniture right? The store was at the same retail park though I’m sure….

We also bought our dining table and chairs from the same store. Both are a dark wood, not mahogany more what I’ve seen described as dark mango. I think it begins with a K…. It’s a really solid, heavy sideboard. I think we paid a few hundred for it, so it wasn’t a budget store.

Perhaps the shop doesn’t exist any more, but can anyone think of furniture chains that were popular around the 2000s to prompt my memory please?

Cotswold Company?

You could post a photo of the side board here?

Or see if it has any name/number on that you could Google?

In all likelihood, unless it was a high end designer store that’s still in fashion, it probably won’t make too much difference. People don’t value second hand furniture very much especially something heavy like a wooden side board which would need a van to collect. I’m sure you’ll be able to sell it but probably for a lot less than you paid

Ameliepoulainandthephotobooth · 14/03/2025 07:16

Why don’t you post a photo ? someone might recognise it?

TickTockPolly · 14/03/2025 07:18

You could also try looking for descriptors on the table and chairs. Or a reverse google image search.

Photos would help to identify .

MFI?

That's a blast from the past!

BumbleBeegu · 14/03/2025 07:28

It really doesn’t matter OP! Kindly…this is a 20 year old sideboard that cost you a ‘few hundred pounds’…you’ll be lucky to actually sell it, and even if you do, I doubt anyone will pay more than £25, and they won’t care where it came from 20 years ago.

Chasingsquirrels · 14/03/2025 07:31

The wood might be Kwila.
Agree with others that the store doesn't matter.

howshouldibehave · 14/03/2025 07:32

Posting a photo would help.

It probably won't make too much of a difference though-furniture can be difficult to sell and you might end up having to pay someone to come and take it away :(

weaselwords · 14/03/2025 07:33

The Pier was still going back in 2007.

ScarletPower · 14/03/2025 07:34

Barker and Stonehouse?

LochKatrine · 14/03/2025 07:34

There are charities which will collect furniture, we used one and they put it all to good use.

That's a blast from the past!

My kitchen is from MFI! Installed about 25 years ago and still going strong!

snapdragongirl · 14/03/2025 12:25

Thanks everyone! I think it was Harvey’s!!!

you are probably right that it doesn’t really matter, I think I was mainly hoping to identify what wood it is as it’s bugging me not knowing, and I thought with the shop name I might be able to find it. I’ve spld and given away several items of furniture recently as moving house, and have found if you know the brand/shop it does seem to help, also any info like material/wood etc. Sold my other sideboard for £100! Happy to give this one away if it doesn’t sell though, but will try selling first 😊

Sold it for £70! (Without mentioning the shop or type of wood 😂) Priced it low as need it gone quickly and feel quite pleased 😊
