To use a mobile hotspot for first stage interview?

My internet hub got water damaged today and is now struggling to connect (stuck on red). Great bloody timing.

so now I’m hot spotting and the upload speed is 10 MBPS.

The interview is a half hour introductory meeting. Do I risk it with my mobile hotspot or go to my parents a half hour drive away to borrow their internet?

Go to your parents. I had the exact same scenario once - don’t risk it!

It’s not worth the risk. Go to your parents (or a friend) and use their internet.

And good luck in your interview!

Sprig1 · 12/03/2025 17:33

Definitely go to your parents. Surely a potential new job is worth an hour in the car.

What job is it for? Do you have to present anything on screen?

angelcake20 · 12/03/2025 17:56

DH's work Wi-Fi is so bad that he does all his online meetings using his phone as a hotspot without any problems.

GlorificusT · 12/03/2025 17:57

I don’t have to present anything on screen.

my instinct is the hotspot would work fine but it’s the risk that worries me. @angelcake20 yeah I have a feeling it would be ok, it’s the what if!

The 'what if' can only cause you anxiety, which won't help you give your best during the interview. Go to your parents, please!

My mobile data works fine for meetings but depends how strong it is. If you have good neighbours ask if you can borrow WiFi for an hour
