Changing works with tradie

I got a quote to get paving done at my house but now I want less work done

Will they think less of me?

Basically I knocked down some walls in the garden and I've got more space in an area and would rather have less pavers

Who cares if they think less of you? That’s an odd thing to worry about, it’s up to you if you want the work done or not.

I want them to do a good job and to do the job.
They said "around December" and wasn't given a date and then I got scaffolding up. It's been up for too long now. They replied and said it wasn't a problem but summer is also busy season

If you’ve not accepted that you want the work done at the price they’ve quoted, I can’t see what the issue is.

Maybe I meant will they be annoyed

Every tradie is different. If they want the job they’ll do it, if they don’t then you can get someone else 🤷‍♀️ We recently had to scale back our gardening job as it was too expensive to do in one go. The guy is coming next month for the revised smaller job, and we’ve told him that we’d like him back next year for the rest. He did our patio last year so we know he’s good.

I did accept the quote but they've not set a date yet (due to both sides)

Dp is a builder and people change their mind all the time. They might be disappointed or decide that they no longer want to do the job.

If they’re busy they might well be quite happy that you want to scale it back a bit!
