What do you do after work in the evenings?

We’ve just lost our dog and after doing nothing but moan about walking him and how much time he took up we are completely lost as a family. I’m like a robot hoover with no purpose every evening. I can’t bear to go for a walk for no reason and I just don’t know what to do with myself. It’s very early days and I know it takes time so tell me what you did this evening after work and what you will do

Massive hugs, they leave a big hole and it will take time to adjust. This evening I'm curled up on the sofa and I've been reading the Salt Path, I keep meaning to make more time for reading. I also might do a bit of knitting, I'm making a really crap wonky hat.

I was going to say a silly answer like ‘drive back and forward to football training all night’ but then I read your post. So sorry to hear about your dog, I can see why it would be hard for you to go out walking without him.

Do you have a garden/like gardening? That would get you back outside at least.

Aww I'm so sorry about your lil pooch, 😢

Do anything.. go do the weekly shopping, clear the garage, go the tip, go to the cinema (cheap tickets midweek).

Doggymummar · 10/03/2025 21:04

Aww sorry we lost ours a month ago. We slob out mostly, TV scrolling and napping

ForRealCat · 10/03/2025 21:04

So sorry about your pupper. Can you contact Cinnamon Trust maybe when you are ready. Walking is so good for you, it would be a shame to stop such a healthy habit.

Sorry for the loss of your pooch.
I have a soak in the bath then either read, watch shit TV or Tik-tok whilst drinking tea and eating crap I really shouldn't.
I still miss our nightly dog walks and we lost her many years ago, I do still go for walks a couple of times a week though.

We lost our dog on Saturday, Sunday I sobbed, today I made myself go swimming and feel so much better for it. Weather is dark and rubbish so was proud to make it out the house. Tomorrow I have a church group and later in the week I need to arrange to meet up with a friend to keep myself busy. Sorry for your loss x

I'm sorry you've lost your dog.

To answer your question,

We are both out the house 3 or 4 nights a week, doing things we enjoy.

What do you enjoy doing, @Hookahchakkah ?

No good me saying I go for a swim, or to a karate class, or to a choir, if you can't swim or hate Martial Arts or can't sing.
