Should I go out or not?

I’m 7 months pregnant and work has been intense, I’m worn down. I went to bed early last night and napped most of today (so sad on such a glorious day) but I still feel awful.

3 of my good friends are having a joint 40th bday tonight in London. If I go by public transport it will take 50mins each direction, if I go by Uber it will take 20mins but cost around £50-60 total.

My husband says I should go and I’ll feel much better if I do (he has to stay with our toddler) but I am scared of getting there, feeling exhausted and miserable, and I just want to go to bed.

Shall I stay or shall I go??

yabu - go
yanbu - stay

The travel would be the deal breaker for me. If it was the pub down the road and you could be at home in ten minutes, I'd say go, but you're a fair way away if you suddenly get that I can't stand to be awake another minute feeling. Its not like its one friend who would be unable to go if you don't, they have each other and I'm sure will understand.

Well it’s 7:20 now so it doesn’t look like you’ll be going?

I think I would have got up earlier, ate and showered to pull myself together and attempted to go.

Sirzy · 08/03/2025 19:22

The distance would put me off really (even without the pregnancy!)

I have eaten and showered - it’s the leaving the house I’m struggling with.

Personally I wouldn't go. The travel and timings are way too much hassle for me let alone when you're pregnant. Stay home and cosy up on the sofa.

xyz111 · 08/03/2025 19:30

I wouldn't be getting a train at 7:30 for 50 mins. Can you afford the uber? I'd show my face just to show my friends I cared, but I wouldn't stay long.

toomuchfaff · 08/03/2025 19:33

Nope, I'm team "stay home"
You could get to the train station and wish you'd stayed home. It's highly unlikely you'll regret not going when sat in PJs.

Biased... saying this in PJs

DinoLil · 08/03/2025 19:34

Stay at home.
100%!

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 08/03/2025 19:39

Absolutely fucking not.

ExtraOnions · 08/03/2025 19:41

You should have told your friend earlier though, it’s late to cancel.

Squeakpopcorn · 08/03/2025 19:41

Put your PJs on watch TV and go to bed early. Ask midwife to check your iron levels.

Donewiththisshit · 08/03/2025 19:42

The fact that you are asking is suggesting permission to stay home. I literally nearly posted the same question myself- working all weekend, can’t be arsed to get myself dressed/do hair etc to go to the party but worried about missing out on life.
In your case I would definitely stay home and rest- you have a good reason to do so at 7 months pregnant! Enjoy your night in without guilt, you are putting yourself and your baby first xxx

seethebeauty84 · 08/03/2025 19:45

For me, things are either a 'hell yes' or a 'no'. Stay at home and rest up. They sound like true friends so they will understand. Congrats on your pregnancy.

Freshflower · 08/03/2025 19:59

Definitely stay at home. Listen to your body and rest and get advice about your exhaustion.
