DH birthday today. He requested, from whole family , and was bought, a piece of tech for his guitar ( he is ex session guitarist ). Firstly complained “it didn’t come charged”. Secondly now complaining it is “too millennialised to use” , and wants to send it back. Is it just me who thinks he is a miserable old bugger who should get with the 21st century ?. I took him for coffee and cake, the coffee shop was “to dark and oppressive” ( ummmm…no, painted brown like coffee beans). I got day leave from hospital to put up with this sh*t. AIBU ?

What an ungrateful oik.

Modernskylines · 08/03/2025 18:15

Shit marriage generally i am guessing

Modernskylines · 08/03/2025 18:16

I’d probably say to him next time it’s your birthday I’m doing NOTHING for you, because you are miserable, ungrateful, rude and horrible. Sometimes you need to level with people.

Modernskylines · 08/03/2025 18:16

That’s a quote btw!

He asked for something without knowing exactly how it worked? He's being ungrateful. He can learn how to use it. If he won't, return it and give everyone their money back.

lnks · 08/03/2025 18:17

He’s a dick. Nothing to do with age.

suburberphobe · 08/03/2025 18:20

He's become a grumpy old man. What a bore.

If he's anything like my late OH it wasn't exactly the same as the one he had when he was twenty so he was annoyed. I recall in the 80s the girls wanted to buy a charity single, he gave them 50p and looked horrified when we told him it wasn't enough.

Endofyear · 08/03/2025 19:34

I'd tell him he's an ungrateful git. Next year get him a pipe and slippers!

Qwee · 08/03/2025 19:36

He's a twat. Put a reminder in your phone for next year not to bother.

This is it. In a nutshell. Made in 1989, highly superior, made now “millennial crap”……

My 66 year old DH is nothing like this. It’s not age, it’s personality. He’d be getting a fucking good talking-to for his birthday from me.
