Sertraline… can anyone help please

Taking sertraline for anxiety. 50mg. Been on it for 3 weeks and whilst I do think the intrusive thoughts have lessened a bit, I am completely wiped out and exhausted all the time. I almost feel dazed. GP says this is normal and to see how I get on in a few weeks.

Did anyone else find their anxiety didn’t completely go? Maybe I was expecting too much? And will this exhaustion stop? I’m getting into bed any opportunity I can which isn’t actually often as I have a two year old and a job.

It helped my anxiety no end and really decreased my PTSD I was having terrible nightmares and flashbacks but it does take a good 4 to 6 weeks to start seeing some benefits so definitely give it a few more weeks and you should start to have a bit more energy and feel less anxious.

If you feel it's not working still in around 3 to 4 weeks definitely contact your GP they may need to increase the dose.

Hope everything works out

My anxiety didn't completely go, and I don't think it's realistic to expect yours will purely from medication. Sertraline's not a cure, but it did reduce my anxiety enough that I could work on it and could function and eventually feel on top of things. The first week was the worst for me so you're already past that. It did make me feel tired but on balance that was worth it for being able to function.

@Blueeyedmale thanks, do you think my dose is too low perhaps?

Anxiety won't totally go but it will help. It takes about 6 weeks to feel the benefit. Hang on in there!

It's possible I started on 50 mg but mine needed to be increased to 100mg but it can go up to 200mg a day I would give it a few more weeks and if you feel your not getting any benefit from it then definitely speak to your gp
