This is a bit self indulgent but I’ve been really horribly anxious. I always thought I was good at my job but failed horribly at an internal interview this week and feel like I’ve embarrassed myself. I did well in my degree and academically but I just feel my practical skills and common sense are lacking.

Are there just some people who aren’t good at stuff? I do my best but I do flounder in high pressure situations and just can’t perform well. I feel like there’s no place for people like me - I can pass exams but I’m actually rubbish at life things that others seem to get instinctively.

Hello
I could have written your post, I am very similar. Try not to put yourself down, I am sure you're very capable but just had an off day. I have plenty of days like that as everyone does!! You're not alone. The more anxious you get the more you'll worry and think negatively and then it spirals out of control and lower your confidence even further and it becomes a vicious circle.

I bet the interview wasn't half as bad as you describe. Have you asked for feedback? That way you'll know where you need to improve. Please try not to worry

Thanks and sorry to hear you’ve felt like this too. I’ll get feedback next week and I’m going to try to reframe things positively.
