My 4th dc was like this, and I was getting concerned. Dentist told me not to worry until he was 8. He's almost 8 now and has lost his 4 front teeth, some dc are just later with this sort of stuff than others.

Ok will wait til he's 8 and hope in between.

I have a check up for him next week, hopefully the dentist can check if all ok and just taking more time

My daughter didn’t lose a tooth until she was 8 and half I asked each time when we went to the dentist they mentioned doing X-rays to see if there were teeth waiting to come through but they kept putting it off as they didn’t want to put her through as X-ray unless they really needed to now she’s lost loads in quick succession

Mynewnameis · 06/03/2025 18:07

My dd was late. She's almost 9 now and her teeth are progressing nicely. Dentist said late teeth is usually good as more space

Aliflowers · 06/03/2025 18:08

Were they late getting their first teeth. DD1 was 14 months when first tooth cut (dentist was considering doing Xrays if they didnt pop up shortly) but did say because she got them late she'd lose them later. Sure enough she was nearer 8 when she started to lose them

Laserwho · 06/03/2025 18:09

Mine where completely different, the first started losing teeth at eight and the younger one at five. Don't worry.

My ds just turned 8 and lost his 1st tooth . The dentist said he has sting teeth . His other teeth haven't started coming through yet

Yellowbananasarebetterthangreen · 06/03/2025 18:20

I was I think 8 when I lost my first one. 16 when my last one came out. Dont panic x

How strange, I was just wondering today if I should be worried my almost 7 year old hasn't lost any teeth yet!

Her 2 front ones look absolutely tiny in her mouth!

Glad you've asked, I'm much less worried now 🙂

GrandHighPoohbah · 06/03/2025 18:28

It's too early to worry at the moment. As PP have said, some children lose teeth later than others. Keep an eye on it if nothing has happened after 8. My DS lost first tooth at 8 and then still had loads of baby teeth aged 11. It turned out he has extensive hypodontia and is missing ten adult teeth. A dentist is unlikely to start looking for this before about 11/12 though.

Lookingforwardto2025 · 06/03/2025 18:40

DS didn't get any teeth until 15mo and the dentist did say he would lose them later than most. He lost his first at 8, is now 9 and has lost 4 in total. The dentist is not remotely concerned :)

Thanks all

Strange thing is, he got his baby teeth very early! All teeth through including molars by about 18 months...

@strewt just wondering if any teeth have been lost yet. My DS was 7 in July and no wobbly teeth yet 🤔
