Badassness more important than HRT

OldCrone223 · 05/03/2025 19:46

I could do with HRT for all the usual reasons but the past 5 years or so I have grown to care less and less about others opinions and have grown more selfish too.

If I start HRT will I start feeling all maternal and start feeling guilty about not putting everyone first again? I could really do without that but hot flushes are a major pain.

Um….no.

I’m on hrt in my 40s and don’t give a shit about all sorts of stuff. It’s great.

Movinghouseatlast · 05/03/2025 20:00

In my experience, no you won't. It gives you only a fraction of the oestrogen you used to have.

madameimadam · 05/03/2025 20:02

I second the er, no!

Before HRT I was a badass but one who couldn't remember things, had horrible flushes, got weepy but didn't give a toss about what people thought of me.

I now still don't give a toss what people think of me but can now recall why and have the clarity of thought to tell them that they're taking the fucking piss.

It's wonderful.

I don't think the badass attitude comes from HRT, but from a life of experience and an awareness of your own mortality.

If anything, HRT makes me give even less of a shit about what other people think.

BlondiePortz · 05/03/2025 20:07

Going through menopause does not give me the excuse to be bad to people it don't care any more or less than I did before about what others say to me but no i won't use it as an excuse to be rude to anyone, same with put, pregnancy, being a teenager, hormones or any body related thing

toomuchfaff · 05/03/2025 20:41

I'm glad you asked this, I wondered if it'd cause all the shit problems like sore breasts and migraines...

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 05/03/2025 20:45

Don't worry - I promise I'm still extremely grumpy and intractable on hrt. If you find yourself smiling at strangers' babies, ask your Gp for some testosterone once your other hormones are sorted.

FancyRedRobin · 05/03/2025 20:54

No I still get lovely doses of female rage and I love them. I feel I could have done with more of them for the past 30 years.

HRT stops my sweats and got my brain working again though.

glittercunt · 05/03/2025 21:27

I've come across a few women who think their menopause gives them the goddamned right to be cunts.

It absolutely doesn't. You're still accountable for being rude.

Going on hrt myself, I've got the crippling depression with suicidal ideation, thanks to mine. Heaven forbid I turn into some rabid rude person.

ssd · 05/03/2025 22:18

I never recognise this i don't care what anyone thinks of me attitude, and I'm nearly 60. I'd hate to unintentionally upset someone, anyone, it just wouldn't sit right with me. I dont want to become an arsehole just cos im getting old.

TheStigarette · 05/03/2025 22:21

I don't think it makes you an arsehole. Just less of a doormat perhaps. That's my experience anyway. Unless everyone thinks I'm an arsehole of course.

OldCrone223 · 05/03/2025 22:23

Brilliant - I'm going to get myself patched (and a decent night's sleep again hopefully)

The not giving a toss usually comes with age, not the depleting hormones.
