Still waiting for a work laptop after 12 days

I posted before about this school. I am applying for other stuff at present because it's an absolute farce of a place.
We're a small group of staff and the headteacher swans in at whatever time she fancies.
I should've been provided with a teacher's laptop on day 1 or ASAP. It's now day 12..
Apparently this laptop has arrived at the head's house.. I politely asked if she'd be able to bring it today and she said 'it needs setting up first so will get my husband on it asap'.
So yet another day of lessons with no laptop. Just bring the damn thing in, it's really not hard. It can be set up whilst it's in school, I just need the Internet and PowerPoint for now.
As I say I'm looking for other jobs asap.

... Umm I'm not sure what you're wanting people to say here

Travellingcareer · 05/03/2025 09:36

I'm asking whether a situation like this is usual or reasonable and if there's anything I can do?

I am sick of having to chase things up constantly. It's not like they've got hundreds of employees to deal with, there are literally 3 of us. What does he do all day?
Tbh this sets a precedent for my future in this job. They clearly don't value me if they can't be arsed to send over an offer letter or contract.

You’ve already been told in your previous thread that it is not usual or reasonable, that this ‘school’ is operating illegally regarding safer recruitment and dodgy as fuck in many other aspects of the way they run things.

You were already advised to get out asap - to go on bank if necessary so you could immediately leave to protect your own professional integrity and liability, to contact and join a union immediately.

Not sure what you expect anyone else to say really and mind boggling that you have stayed.

Good job you don’t work for nhs. You would be waiting months.

You've already asked this on Mumsnet, you were given lots of advice on what you can do... @Travellingcareer

Ive fortunately managed to get another role starting 22nd April which is the day after Easter, so i just need to find something for Easter in order to be paid. I don't trust this school to pay me.

Since last time I posted things got better for a little bit. I was told I'd get given a contract, laptop, training etc. So I decided to stay. However that's still not materialised.

Do you not even get a formal offer letter before starting?

You were told over and over again on your other post what to do. You've obviously ignored all the good advice. What else would you like people to add?

Rinoachicken · 05/03/2025 12:03

You still don’t have a contract??!! FFS why are you still there - you aren’t going to get paid

Ive posted upthread explaining i have another job starting 22nd April. Just thinking about what I can do between now and then..
I naively believed them the other day when they said they'd sort out everything however this hasn't happened.

I have another job now fortunately however won't start until after Easter.

So just leave and do supply until your new job starts.

You are mad to stay there putting yourself at professional risk and totally unprotected should something go wrong.
