To ask how to decorate rooms with sloping ceilings?

Looking for inspiration for redecorating bedrooms with sloping ceilings.
ATM the walls and ceilings are all white but I’d like to introduce some colour.
Is it best to paint walls and ceilings the same colour or leave the ceilings white and just paint the walls with a colour?

You can paint the vertical walls whatever colour you like, and the ceiling and sloping down bits in white. Or whatever else you like, but that’s what we did.

I usually put colour on the vertical walls and leave anything sloping white.

I can’t find any helpful photos either

I googled “loft bedroom paint” and many images came up of different painting schemes, with white ceiling / coloured walls, all one colour, etc.

Not sure if painting everything the same colour would make the room look smaller?

I think it depends on how high the shoulder walls are. You could treat the slanted part as either ceiling or wall, depending on the shape of the room.

I wouldn't go high contrast, it will just highlight the odd shape. A good decor on-line spot is Houzz, have a look.

Can you post a picture of the room?

Nooa · 05/03/2025 11:15

It really depends on what height the slope starts at, and how steep the slope is. Would need a photo to advise properly. Or if you understandably do want to post a photo, then I recommend searching for inspiration online instead.
