I plugged your description into ChatGPT and it said -
This mystery trip appears to be describing Athens, Greece and possibly some nearby islands. Here’s why:
• Historic Ruins & UNESCO Sites: Athens is home to the Acropolis, the Parthenon, and numerous other ancient landmarks. Greece has multiple UNESCO-listed sites.
• Bustling Plazas & Contemporary Cool: Athens has lively neighborhoods like Monastiraki and Plaka, blending historic charm with modern energy, street art, and a youthful atmosphere.
• Culinary Superpower: Greek food is world-renowned for its fresh and flavorful dishes, including souvlaki, moussaka, and fresh seafood.
• Island-Hopping: The mention of a three-island boat trip suggests a tour to Hydra, Poros, and Aegina, popular islands near Athens.
• Temple Shrouded in Mystery: This could refer to the Temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion, known for its stunning seaside views and legendary past.
• Picturesque Coastal Town & Archeological Site: This might be Nafplio and the nearby ruins of Mycenae or Epidaurus, both famous ancient sites.

Flight Duration Matches

A flight from Miami (MIA) to Athens (ATH) typically takes 14-17 hours with a stopover, which fits the itinerary.

All clues point to Athens, Greece, with excursions to nearby islands and historical sites.

Ah I'd got as far as Madrid but couldn't figure out where it went next! Have you signed up to do Journee? I'm so tempted

Wakeywake · 04/03/2025 18:55

Which ocean I you supposed to swim in in Greece? I can't think of any European country that meets all the requirements.

daisypetula · 04/03/2025 18:55

It's not going to be Europe if it's 16 hours from Miami.

daisypetula · 04/03/2025 18:58

The Middle East is 14 hours by plane. Maybe part of Turkey ?

FatArse123 · 04/03/2025 18:58

Naples (with bells on)

It's my favourite city but not for everyone. Ticks your boxes, though, if you include Pompeii.

IMissSparkling · 04/03/2025 18:59

Why even bother booking a mystery trip and then asking the internet where you're going?! Is the surprise not the whole point?

randoname · 04/03/2025 18:59

Bjorkdidit · 04/03/2025 18:38

Malta, Gozo and Comino?

It mentions great food. So no!
(I love Malta but it’s no culinary hotspot)

Octavia64 · 04/03/2025 19:01

Yeah I love Malta as well but as it was British for a while the food is ok but no better.

Athens is amazing - just got back two weeks ago.
