Crowdfunder scam? Should I be worried?

I have just received an email congratulating me on starting my crowdfunding project - this is the first I've heard of it and I have no idea how to go about investigating what's happened - should I be worried? Is it some kind of scam? Has someone hacked my email or Facebook account? Any advice gratefully received thank you

Go to Crowd funder, use the help centre link on the website and ask them to look into it. While you're there, search the site for possible scam crowd funders using your name.
Whatever you do don't use any links in the email: and you can forward it (or a
screenshot) to [email protected]

I had the same, I assume they have done an IT update or failed to select active campaigns for their latest marketing email

Me too. I logged in and saw a new fundraiser on my account so I deleted it

Just an update, Crowdfunder have got back to me and said it was an administrative error - none the wiser really because I haven't used Crowdfunder before from my email address as far as I am aware - so am chasing it up, but progress of sorts. Thanks for the advice so far - very helpful

All resolved - apparently I received this email (in error) congratulating me on starting up a crowdfunding project - because they held my email address from when I previously contributed to a crowdfunder. So a lot of worry about a scam when it's basically poor IT and admin error - not impressed. But at least I have an explanation and don't have to worry anymore about hacking etc
