Been in a job almost 2 weeks and still no contract

It's a small private company. It's a shame because the pay is good, I got paid at the end of Feb for the days I'd worked, I like the role, I like the people.

I have no formal offer letter or contract. I've spoken to my manager, apparently they've had some personal problems out of work but assures me it'll be sorted soon.
It's bothering me tbh. I turned down another role for this, I emailed the other role explaining I was going to decline but they have just contacted me again asking when I can start.

I chose this other role because the pay and holidays are better, but they are really annoying me with the contract business. I obviously need some sort of written proof I work here, not just for myself but for anything in the future.
People are telling me to go for the other job as I can just walk out of here. It's a shame because I can see myself here long-term and don't want to be a job hopper. What should I do?

In the role I turned down, the commute is way smaller and I have friends there, as it's sort of where I used to work. However it was going in via a recruitment agency so it felt less secure. I feel I've made the wrong decision.

The other role have contacted me saying they need to know by 9am tomorrow.

Speak to your manager urgently and say the things you've said here. 'i need to have the contract today, otherwise unfortunately I will have to take this other offer. I like it here and don't want to leave but unfortunately working without a contract is an untenable situation'

I was also promised another piece of working equipment that I have still not been given. I was told yesterday, now today, then nothing so far today.

Not even a statement of particulars nothing. I get the manager has personal issues but tbh, that is zero to do with my job.

Sorry I'm posting a lot just stressed. I got my payslip and there is no breakdown of anything whatsoever, just a figure slapped onto the paper.
