Why do the Russians want my MS teams info?

So I got a notification from Microsoft to say there had been suspicious activity on my account. Apparently I'd logged in from China today! and someone had tried to log in from Russia last week!

Now ... I'm very boring! I don't have a lot of spare cash, I'm not connected to the government, I am not a spy! I am.not a master criminal!! I am just mum from middle England doing the school runs, working, going on occasional.summer holidays!

So, help me understand what the hackers are after?

How does having access to my Microsoft teams account help some random person in China or Russia?

Thanks :)

Probably attempting to find financial information, checking if it's used for business information, or to attempt to take over the account to scam or get information from others. Until hackers are into an account they won't know how useful or useless it will be.

need a reminder of when to put the milk bottles out?

Do you think I should worry?

I got the notification at 7:45 but the Chinese person had logged in at 7. So they'd had 45 minutes to rummage about before I changed my password?

They could be in neither of those countries. Just using a VPN.

You said it was a teams account. Is this personal or work? If it's work then it might not be your information they're after

People tend not to spoof their IPs to pretend to be in China or Russia!

Haha I know what you mean but it might just be a randomised one 🤷🏼‍♀️
