Dd heard Dh call me a horrible person

Dh and I having a hard time at the moment and not always getting on. Today we were having a sort of argument upstairs and didn’t know Dd, 6 had come up. He was saying to me ‘You’re a horrible person’ Dd heard and started to shout at him and say I wasn’t a horrible person, then came into the bedroom with me and didn’t want to go downstairs.
I reassured her all was ok and daddy didn’t mean it and people have arguments sometimes and say things they don’t mean when they’re angry. I asked him to please reassure her of the same and that he didn’t mean it etc, he didn’t say anything to her.
So sad she had to witness that and worried it will affect her 😔

There is no one more loyal than a six year old. He should be ashamed of himself for not apologising to her.

Bets are he never apologises, sulks, and then acts like it never happened.

The child and wife will remember though.

Do you think it will mess her up?

I just wanted him to put her mind at ease and for her not to be worried, she was hugging me and checking I was ok 😔 I of course reassured her I was fine and acted like that

As a one off, probably not. But if this is a regular occurrence and there’s a constant bad atmosphere then yes, it will affect her.
