Random man sleeping in same house as DS?

DS aged 6 goes to his dad's for 1-2 night per week.

His dad has a housemate, a man, who I have known since I was a child so I am fine with this.

When I picked DS up this evening he randomly mentioned that a new man has moved in with them. I don't know this man, I asked who he is and he shrugged and said "dunno, he's my friends's mate, he's a professional chef".

AIBU to be really uncomfortable with this?

Uh, absolutely, yes! Don’t let your DS stay until you have a lot more information.

Ah well he's a professional chef...that makes all the difference 🤯

Yes I'd just be shutting that down straight away to be honest.

Motherofalittledragon · 03/03/2025 10:15

No not ok at all.

Ask his dad? Or don't you trust him to have done some checking?

ItGhoul · 03/03/2025 10:20

Does your son share a room with his dad when he stays there? I would be a more concerned if he was in his own room overnight, but if he sleeps in his dad’s room it’s less of a concern.

If he’s like any of the chefs I’ve known, he’ll hardly be in the house, and when he is he’ll be asleep.

Do you think he might be a sex offender, and do you trust your ex to keep your child safe ?

The man sleeps in DS' bedroom and then when DS is there he sleeps on the sofa.
