Itchy legs all the time!

No matter what washing powder i use or what trousers I wear, it happens to me every time I'm walking about and I'm fed up with it. I heard it can be a sign of diabetes however I've tested negative for it.
Other people have noticed it as well which makes me feel embarrassed, it's just a constant urge to itch them and I'm fed up. I'm in my mid 30s, anyone else have this? I don't have a skin condition that I'm aware of.

This happens to me if I don't exfoliate my legs and then moisterise.

The Ordinary Glycolic Acid on a cotton pad all over twice a week (not the same day as shaving) followed by Vanicream moisteriser (the big pump tub from Amazon) has completely cured it.

Thank you, I'll give it a try!

Has your liver function been checked?

biscuitsandbooks · 01/03/2025 12:10

Have you had blood tests to check for vitamin deficiencies?

faithspikebuffy · 01/03/2025 12:13

Palmer's anti ageing lotion is the only one that stops the itch for me
This one, it's been renamed

I can't use any moisturers or soaps as they make me itch.
My brother (after years of struggling) has found out he is allergic to citric acid and that makes him itch unbearably.

You said it happens when you're walking around? Some people are sort of actually allergic to exercise! I just did a quick Google and it said its called cholinergic urticaria.

Yes, only when I'm moving about! Oh my goodness, imagine if it's that 😂

I'll request a blood test to check for deficiencies.

DH had something similar and moisturising daily with Cerave has sorted it out.

Atstritchsitchmitch · 01/03/2025 12:37

Are you using any products? I was itching my legs constantly and then realised I was allergic to the moisturising cream I had been using.

Planejane34 · 01/03/2025 12:38

I just wonder why it's only happening when I'm moving about and not sitting still.

I actually have cholinergic urticaria but with that you are likely to get hives, it also happens with baths, wearing a coat, and it's very very visible

imtherelala · 01/03/2025 12:48

If all test come back clear like mine did all i can say is the following.
Are you legs covered all the time.
If they are try wearing shorts inside or just a long baggy top and boxers let your legs get some air.
I say this as it was my problem years ago but be warned you may like your legs being free i live in shorts now.
And get a good moisturizer dish out for it.
It may take time to get use to it but if the need comes to scratch dont scratch just rub not scratch.

Planejane34 · 01/03/2025 12:49

Thanks everyone. I tend to only wear shorts in the house, i do moisturise them but not daily, I'll try to keep on top of it.
