Do I have a Blue Peter car? (pics attached)

Car 10 yrs old, I've had it for approx 1 yr. Bought from main dealer.

Popped the bonnet tonight & was shocked to notice my engine area pipes significantly taped up all over & areas were the wires were exposed at joints.

This may be completely normal but I don't feel my previous cars have been like this. Maybe I've just forgotten. But now I can't stop thinking about it tho, it just seems so Blue Peter. We heavily rely on our car & only have this one.

I'd be grateful for knowledgeable input on whether this is a proper concern.

AIBU
YES: This is normal / stop worrying
NO: This is wrong / dodgy / not normal

BACKGROUND: Car currently under dealer / extended manufacturer warranty for a few more months. Car was in for work recently under warranty for 2 suspension coil replacements, after getting car back I noticed a pipe showing at top of bonnet near windscreen hence why I popped the bonnet, this was the pipe to the wipers & was taped up at pinch point which was odd as there was a clip within the engine area for this pipe to sit safely. It was looking at this when I noticed all the other taped pipework & exposed wires which seems so vulnerable to weathering / the elements etc.

Thanks for reading.

Not sure about the tape but the wires are fine that's normal

The wires are normal. The tape depends on what sort of tubes it's over, could be fine. I'm more surprised you've had your car for a year and this is the first time you've seen the engine! Have you never even added screenwash?

Thanks @Stardust286

and @KrisAkabusi, no I haven't! I only do about 3-4k miles / yr, and I presume (I guess) it would've been topped up when I got it, then each time it went back in for work... after about a month for snagging bits, back in for warranty work a few months, service 7 months after getting it, mot 2 months later, just back now for suspension work. I did look under the bonnet when I bought it but didn't take any of this in I guess as we were carless & desperate for a car & I had misplace faith in a dealer being reliable & trustworthy!
