I’m having a proper panic - have sinus issues and just bought a rinsing device - but I’ve used warm tap water not realising it needs to be pure water!
Now panicking I’m going to get a fatal brain infection

feel like such an idiot!!

any reassuring stories or indeed and advice in mitigating the risk?

Thanks!

Not a doc, but if you're in the UK and used mains water you'll be fine. The amoebae Naegleria fowleri has only been found in one patient to date in the UK, and it's thought that was contracted from a muddy puddle. It's been theorised that as temperatures rise there will be greater risks in freshwater sources and soil but As far as I'm aware it's never been detected in treated water. So providing you didn't use river / lake / canal or puddle water, you'll be completely fine, and if you're in the did you use untreated water the risks are absolutely minimal given it's currently winter!
If you're not in the UK, but somewhere warm / hot and used untreated water, probably best to seek local medical advice.

I’ve never known anyone to get sick or die from amoebic meningitis due to water that is the temperature of UK winter water.

An Australian summer, in the other hand …. It’s why there are rules about chlorinating swimming pools etc.
