Should I report or suck it up

I'm not sure if I have overreacted in the situation that happened yesterday but as it kept me awake last night I'm obviously torn about it.
I was talking to a colleague about a guy organising some work on our building. So for context he doesn't work for our company but has been contracted.
I mentioned that he kept moving the ballpark figure and I believe it may cost the company more than initially thought.
My colleague replied that it was to be expected of his type , I asked what they meant and they clarified it was because of his religion/ ethnicity. But in much cruder terms.
I walked away before I said something in anger and hurt , am shocked someone would say that especially in the workplace, their position and lastly because of my ethnicity.
Sorry I'm tired and a little upset so excuse my words.
Do I report them , try to have a conversation with them or ignore them?

I've a mind to but it would be obvious it was me reporting and it would sour the environment but the more I think about it the more upset I am that someone thought it was ok to say that .. whether or not they knew my background
