Anyone work for the PO or had this happen to.them please?
I sent a signed for letter 10 days ago at the PO it was only going locally but was important.

It wasn't tracked, but I had a reference number and they are supposed to.update it when it was delivered.
?
I keep checking and no update. All it tells me is that my letter was at xxxx post office on xxxx date and sent from there.
NO update whatsoever in 10 days.
I've rung the helpline and they couldn't give me any info.
It's either not been delivered, or not been updated online and it's 10 days.
Will I ever find out where it's gone. Although of no.monetary importance it was an important letter. That is why I though signed for would be OK.
I just want to know what's happened to it, any advice?

I did put my return address on the letter will that help?🙄😭

PO are rubbish lately. I sent a small tracked 24 parcel with compensation cover as it was a valuable item. Its disappeared and PO are stalling on my claim. Maddening!

The Post Office might as well switch the lights off and go home. They aren't fit for purpose. They should take Alan Bates suggestion and sell it to Amazon for £1.00.

It happens alot then.....
I don't use it much.

In the last couple of weeks, I had one letter taking 2 weeks to arrive. 2nd class stamp.
One letter took about 4 days with a first class stamp. One letter has been sent 1 week ago. Still no sign…. Also 1st class.

Yep… not good what-so ever.

Can’t you find out from the recipient, op?

Dozycuntlaters · 28/02/2025 15:40

If you send it signed for but not tracked, then they won't start looking to see what happened until it's been 30 days.....and probably after that they will just say theres nothing they can do.

Unless you do signed and tracked, there is no point, may as well just shove it in the postbox.

We barely get any post at all these days, then it all arrives at once.

It's probably sat in a sorting office somewhere.

mindutopia · 28/02/2025 16:31

Our post gets delivered about once a week at the moment. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I get letters for appointments after I’ve already been for them. Thankfully, I get reminders by text or phone or else I’d never turn up to anything.

Good question. Not necessarily no.

The post office seems to be trying to destroy themselves. Tried to return a parcel this week. First time their machine was broken so a wasted trip and car park fee. Second time at a different post office, the queue was estimated T 45 mins. One person serving and one wandering up and down the queue checking we were all ok and realized how long the wait would be. No local post offices any more as all closed down. Another story was my birthday cards. To local ones posted to the same address on the same day first class. One arrived on time and one 5 days later .

I thought signed for would be OK.

They said I can start a claim march 4th.

I sent two tracked via ebay 10 days ago. Tracking doesn't show its been delivered but I assume the two packages have as I've been left feedback by the buyers.

In the meantime I can't access my ebay funds until either the package sows delivered or its been 2 weeks.

I work for the Post Office.

I just want to start by pointing out that Post Office and Royal Mail are two separate companies and Post Office do not deliver mail. That is Royal Mail. That is where the problem is.

Signed for is not a tracked service so there is no way of knowing where it is. The only way you will know is when the recipient signs for it, if they do.

You will get a reference number, not a tracking number. If you want to dm me the reference, I can do my utmost to try and work it out however Post Office don't have the systems of Royal Mail. We only have what the general public have on Google, due to the two companies being different.

Have you sent it 1st or 2nd Signed for? My advice would be to try contact the recipient and see if they've received it. If you do resend, make sure it is a tracked service like 24 or 48 hour tracked or to be extra sure, send it Special Delivery.

Please feel free to message if you would like.
