DP watching frequent porn

DP commented yesterday that he watches less porn than he used to.

He's gone from watching it every day, to every other day.

We don't like together, I generally see him for two nights a week.

I'm really turned on by this, it makes him feel a little sleazy and icky to me. But not sure if that's irrational?

AIBU?

You're turned on by him being 'sleazy and icky'?

Pleasesaveme · 27/02/2025 14:46

You are turned on by him getting his sexual gratification from seeing women being violated and abused and exploited?

Sounds like the 2 of you deserve each other.

I suspect the 'on' was a typo and that the OP meant to say 'off'.

OP, if indeed it was a typo and you find your boyfriend's porn habit 'icky' and unattractive, you should end the relationship. He's obviously not going to stop watching what he wants to watch in his own home. The fact that he has openly and proactively mentioned it suggests that he doesn't feel any shame about using porn and is unlikely to see your disapproval as a reason to stop. And even if he were to tell you that he has stopped at your request, I doubt he'd be telling the truth.

If you really did mean to say you're turned on by it, then it's obviously not going to be a source of conflict in your relationship, and you don't need to to worry.

He commented that he's watching less porn, only every other day?

Was he expecting a medal or something?

You don't live together and your lives are not entwined... take the opportunity to bin him off.

Pretty sure the OP meant 'off', as 'on' does not go with the rest of her statement.

I hope you are right and it is a typo .

It's just you can never can tell because the subject of porn seems to bring so many porn apologists on to MN.

I meant it turns me off.

You see him two nights a week, YABU to call him your partner.

He has no shame about watching porn and it turns you off, you're not compatible.

Fiery30 · 27/02/2025 21:01

Watching porn is not an issue, unless it starts interfering with your sex life. At the same time, if you don't like it, you don't. That's also ok. You can have a conversation with him and share how you feel and come to a decision whether you are compatible with each other.

Pleasesaveme · 27/02/2025 21:32

Well I wouldn't want to be in a relationship with someone who watches porn OP. What a warped view of women porn generates. And it normalises violence against women.

It's up to you to decide whether porn is a boundary for you. You can tell him how it makes you feel but I think if he is watching it every day or every other day he is possibly addicted. It seems unlikely he will stop watching it.
