New job & pregnant

Hi

I found out I am pregnant on Monday 24th Feb which I am so happy about. I’m only 4 weeks but in August last year I had a miscarriage at 6 weeks so trying not to get too excited at this point as I’m so scared.

On Monday 3rd March I am starting my new role at the company I have been at for 5 years(same department it is a management role). I have a great relationship already with my new manager. I will be moving to a team of 3, the 2 other members I am really good friends with already. This role is a completely new role which has been created for us 3 so we’re all up in the air on how it will work etc.

Because of my good relationship with them all I feel like I should tell my manager now as I don’t want her to think I planned to get pregnant as soon as I got the new job which isn’t the case! I was actually about a week pregnant when I did the job interview. I just don’t want anyone thinking I’ve left them in the 💩 . Should I tell them now or wait until I’ve had a scan? I don’t want to pee off not only work colleagues but friends off.

Wait til 3 month scan. Nothing to be gained by telling them at this point. Opens lots of questions that no one can answer today anyway- and if the happens you’ll have to go tell them which you might or might not want to do.

No sure why you feel guilty. You haven't done anything wrong. I absolutely would not say anything at that point. Nobody has the right to be peed off and if the are, screw them...

And congratulations 🎉

Thank you so much🫶🏼 This makes me feel better. I get so worked up about other people’s opinions it’s the worst.

Be cautious of telling them too soon. But also of telling them too late. If you had a miscarriage were they aware of that? If so it won't come as a big surprise.

I'd see hownyou get on and play it by ear. If you're really struggling with pregnancy symptoms tell them sooner so they can make adjustments if needed. You're legally protected from when they know. However if you have an easy first trimester and you don't feel the need to tell them i'd wait until 12 week scan.

Yes they were aware of the miscarriage. Thank you for your help 😊
