My hair is thin and damaged, but has recently started to look healthier. It has grown past my shoulders now - it is fine and gappy but much better than it was.

I booked an appointment tonight for balayage but I think I am chickening out.
i wanted a change, but I am worried adding more blonde will put me back to square one again.

So, all I can think of doing is refreshing the brown colour and getting a chop.
But I have no idea how to change my looks.

I tried to get bangs a few months ago but it just didn’t work - my hair doesn’t hold style for very long and also my hair is very oily, and my front strands get greasy so it just looked bad.

Can anyone advise?! I just feel like my hair has no hope in transforming me anymore!

Discuss with the hairdresser. Tell them the issues you have. Colour will thicken your hair, but bleach will be damaging.

You need to discuss your hair with the hairdresser and get their advice

You could keep it fairly short, while your hair health and quality is still improving? Short length may help it to look fuller.

A hair professional who can see and feel your hair will give you better advice than internet randoms who just have your description to go by.
