Advice/reassurance on Pregabalin?

Rainbows678 · 26/02/2025 20:26

I’m currently having an anxiety crisis, I’ve been prescribed Pregabalin because I can’t take normal anxiety medications because it interacts with some of my other regular medications that I take.

I’m a little apprehensive about taking it, especially because I have quite a severe sickness phobia.

Can anyone share their experiences and side effects please?

Is there a possibility that you could become pregnant while taking it?8

Really good for anxiety initially - but whatever dose you start on - soon I found it needing increasing…

eventually I was on more than max daily recommended (sanctioned by psychiatrist) but I piled on weight really badly.

my advice - take it to help you cope as long as you have a really good therapy plan in place.

Never go cold Turkey in it coming off - this was done to me when I was sectioned and they they just stopped my meds… cold Turkey meant awful awful side effect as you have to come off this drug slowly and incrementally .

it is really good for helping with anxiety but not the answer . Therapy and longer term strategies are what you need but the pregabalin could be helpful short term to help you be able to access other things.

use for the shortest time possible and the lowest dose that is helpful as it is a vvvvv powerful drug and the weight gain / tolerance / drowsiness is immense.

I found the opposite. Only take 75mg, never needed to increase dose and changed my life.
No weight gain.

Made me put on weight and like pp, had to keep increasing dose for effects. Came off it when sectioned.

I was on max dose and didn’t experience any weight gain or drowsiness. Be very careful coming off it and come off very incrementally. No harm in trying a small dose to see if helps.

I knew someone who was on it - all fine no weight gain but had to change to something else because of the pregnancy problem and risk to unborn child
