To think this is suspicious (pc remark)

Without going into too much detail I had to give details of an incident and obviously used a description of the party involved.
The pc paused and said something along the lines of "oh that's interesting, I can't tell you about this for now but that matches something we're looking into"

AIBU to think the party in question is most definitely suspicious but what the PC really wanted to tell me was "this same thing has happened and reported before with the same party in question"

Yes, sounds likely, you don't say what the incident was but I would imagine they have had reports of similar in the area and matching descriptions of the perpetrators.
