It's a parking one! With a diagram!

I was at a local beauty spot today and the car park was rammed, it being half term. I was driving around, trying to find a place, when I came across a car parked across two places (see diagram). * *Since the car park was so full, I rolled down the window and politely asked the driver (who was still in the car, along with her kid) if she'd mind moving up so she was just occupying one space. She rolled her eyes and tutted, but did move, and I thanked her and parked next to her. Was IBU to ask her to move? She was eating her lunch at the time.

YANBU. Two space wankers make me wish I drove one of those tiny smart cars so I could still squeeze in the space beside them despite their best efforts.

CeciliaMars · 24/02/2025 17:28

Non event. She parked unreasonably, you asked her to move, she did.

JemimaFlubberCluck · 24/02/2025 17:28

Classic CF - good on you for pointing that out to her.

ZekeZeke · 24/02/2025 17:28

Firstly, top marks on the diagram, secondly, YANBU

Your behaviour was exemplary OP. You did absolutely the right thing. If I'd have witnessed it I would have given you a high five. And I'm not being sarcastic.

Hazeby · 24/02/2025 17:34

I wonder why she did that. Trying to save it for someone maybe?

Kahless · 24/02/2025 17:35

You asked her to move, she did.

Not seeing a problem?

MyRabbit79 · 24/02/2025 17:36

There was someone parked like this the other day in our tiny gym car park, and it was a Mini, so not as though they needed the space. There were no other spaces free at all.

I'm so intrigued, what's the thought process behind this?!

A non event is parking in a/one parking space

I did that when I was 18, but with my little Fiat 126 (before the days of Smart cars). It was pretty satisfying, until I returned to find my car had been keyed.

TianasBayou · 24/02/2025 17:48

Depends if the spaces were actually marked?
If they were, YANBU.

If not, it might've been the drivers either side who left big gaps.

Yes, they were marked. I could see the delineations. I just don't understand why people do this, especially when the car park is clearly busy.

YANBU. If you sit in a packed car park occupying two spaces while other people can’t park, you’re a selfish twat. Yes she moved but you shouldn’t have had to ask.
probably one of those nobs driving a flash car and purposely parks across two spaces so it doesn’t get scratched 🙄
