This upset me, but what could I do?

I was in a well known high street bakers at lunch time. The young man in front of me in the queue was pushing a buggy with a young child in it -- not a tiny baby but not really quite big enough to be toddling independently, maybe a bit over a year old.

He also had a large spliff which, before he was served, he tucked (still lit, I think, but I'm not 100% on that) into the hood of the child's buggy. Lit or not, the smell of weed was really strong.

Now, if he wants to rot his own brain, or what might be left of it, fine, go ahead. But that child had no say in the matter. And if the man is smoking weed so openly on the street, we can guess how much drug use the child is exposed to.

what did I do or say? Nothing, even though I felt quite upset on behalf of that child. What could have made a difference? What could I have said or done? What would you have done?

There is nothing you can do or could have done. Smoking weed isn't the worst thing a parent could do but in public with a toddler is so chavvy and disrespectful. Poor kid. Hopefully the mum isn't a pothead too!

A woman with a pushchair stunk of weed on the bus today. I said nothing because what difference would it make? I’ve seen countless parents over the years smoking it with a pram in tow.

I just thank god it’s not me or anyone I know.

The answer to all 3 questions is 'nothing' 🤷‍♂️

There's literally nothing you can do and no-one's going to act if you try.

I was in the supermarket a few evenings ago and a mum was there with 3 small dc. I bent down to get something from the shelf next to one dc who was about 4 and she stunk of weed. I honestly felt really sad and judged the mum. No point saying anything if she clearly thinks it’s okay.
