I seem to spend a lot of time scrolling on TikTok instagram ( not so much Facebook ) for hours on end how to break the cycle? I go into a bloody hole of watching cleaning reels !

Yes, I find it harder and harder to watch a series/film without scrolling so eventually give up as I have missed something important in the plot.

Yes....I've deleted instagram for this exact reason.

Doom scrolling doesnt make anyone feel better.

It's awful isn't it ! I was starting to feel really hazy headed and tired hot and bothered just got up and did half hour housework washing away and already feel better ! Very tempted to delete instagram and TikTok but I know out of habit I will keep picking up my phone !! I knit and can only do a row or so before I'm back on my phone 🫣

Set a timer on each of your apps so that they are hidden after a certain time. It will be in settings on your phone.

TemporaryPosition · 19/02/2025 14:12

Just get rid, there's no other way

TheThreeMiracles · 19/02/2025 14:13

@elastamum ohhhh can you do that?!! I didn't know that was a thing!! Xx

On android there is a setting called digital wellbeing. It's in there. I'm sure there is similar for iPhone.

I understand it's something to do with triggering dopamine. Could it be that you have low dopamine? Might there be other ways of increasing dopamine e.g. walk or exercise

Yes! I am seriously considering a Nokia dumb phone. The timers don’t work for me, I end up just overriding them. Deleting the apps dont work for me - I just re download the app!!
