To think too many drive above the speed limit?

On the way to work I will be at maximum speed limit and several people will overtake me way over the limit. Not only is it dangerous but they never get cauhht which is galling.

How do you know they never get caught?

People who routinely drive around above the speed limit do tend to get caught, it's a matter of time. Whether they learn anything is another matter.

This is Mumsnet where everyone drives at the exact speed limit, so I doubt you'll find a balanced debate here, but then your post does just seem to look for a vent.

If people regularly speed on a certain road then chances are that the limit is too low for the road. See the many 40s that were changed into 30s, or more recently the many 30s that were made into 20s, mostly on a political whim rather than for an actual safety-based reason for that particular stretch.

But I also think that driving should be monitored on both ends of the speed spectrum. I have sat behind people going 30 in a 50 zone that couldn't be safely overtaken for a few miles due to oncoming traffic, and I have also been behind people doing 45 on a clear motorway (yes, I have overtaken those when it was safe). People unable to stick to a speed limit are annoying at both ends.
