To take time off sick in the same week as annual leave?

I am off from Wednesday this week for 10 nights and am leaving my current team to join a new one.

I have developed a nasty cold/chest over the weekend and feel really lousy. I’ve never taken any sick days in two years of working with the team. I could probably make it in but will feel rough.

AIBU to take a sick day tomorrow? Will it not look suspicious? I also had to work from home last week as I felt sick but then got better.

Do you think you'll make it in Tuesday?

Honestly if you're switching teams I'd imagine people are expecting little anyway (bar clearing your inbox/handovers) so maybe try and WFH and do that?

I don't know what the rules are in your company but in ours if you take sick leave and then plan to go straight into annual leave - leave won't be paid. You need to work at least one shift prior to AL.

If you're sick, be sick.
