To be offended or flattered??

Went out for a meal tonight. I have a prolapsed disc and can't sit for prolonged periods. I got up a few times and walked up and down . Also rubbed my back.

End of the night our server said they normally offer shots but he figured I wouldn't want one and kind of gestured at me.
Took a few minutes but realised he thought I was pregnant.

I'm a size 14,I have a bit of a tum but not massive I was in a very loose fitting dress though.

I am also nearly 50😂

Should I be flattered I look young enough to be pregnant or offended I might be big enough to look pregnant? 😂😂

Meh, neither, it was just a mistake!

Closetheblinds · 16/02/2025 21:32

Did you do the duck walk too while you were rubbing your back? May have been the confusing factor in there!

sorry op 😆 hope you recover soon though

Apileofballyhoo · 16/02/2025 21:35

I'd take it as a win.

I’d be offended to be honest. Sorry op.

ValentineValentineV · 16/02/2025 22:00

Offended.

Flamingoknees · 16/02/2025 22:00

I would choose to be flattered 😁Edited tosay, I'm over the moon if the pharmacy staff ask if there is any chance that I could be pregnant (56).

TeacupsAndCakes · 16/02/2025 22:06

It's probably more the getting up to walk/holding your back which made him think that. I'm sure you don't look pregnant and if any thing yes take it as a compliment! 🤣

JLou08 · 16/02/2025 22:10

I did need to get up to walk around a lot when I was pregnant and did rub my back. Maybe it was your behaviour rather than appearance that made them think you were pregnant.

Diningtableornot · 16/02/2025 22:11

Be neither. Be indulgent to a young man who is surely going to get into deep trouble soon for making tactless comments to customers.

discdiscsnap · 16/02/2025 22:16

To be honest I'm more surprised I definitely feel I look too old to possibly be pregnant

Most people cannot accurately guess an age within 5 years either side. Hence why I’d be offended, he didn’t think you looked young, he thought you looked pregnant.

Saphire123 · 17/02/2025 00:15

Flattered more than insulted...especially as you had a loose top on.
He probably thought you were pregnant because of your actions rather than the size of your belly.

Ponoka7 · 17/02/2025 00:19

With IVF increasingly being used, it doesn't mean that he thinks you are young enough to get pregnant naturally. I'm I wouldn't care either way.
