Evap or Positive?

I still don't have my period. My doctor told me to do another test so I did this morning. Does this look positive? It was within the time frame. I did one a week ago.

Evap or Positive?

Sorry yes I really want to be pregnant. I see the doctor tomorrow so going to ask.

Definitely get a pink dye test. The Boots early response ones are very reliable, or a digital with words (get one that has a 10 miu/ml sensitivity).

M1451 · 17/02/2025 23:22

I will get a first response but am going to ask the doctor for bloodwork. Do people ever get false positives with clear blue?

People get many evap lines on clearblue that look positive. You only have to google to see how often it happens. It’s not really exactly a false positive. It’s often where the dye has run on the test or the test has dried and a line is visible. I have had many myself and now would never use a clearblue ever again unless it’s a digital. As I said earlier, if you are a week late and IF that is a true positive, that strong a line will show on a digital especially if the test has a sensitivity of 10miu.

In my experience unless the line is thick and dark I wouldn’t trust it. I’m not saying you’re definitely not pregnant. Just that I wouldn’t get my hopes up over that line just in case.

M1451 · 19/02/2025 16:52

I saw the doctor last night. She thinks it's positive so did bloodwork. But also questioned why it's a thin line

OP posts:
Calamitousness · 19/02/2025 16:57

It is definitely positive but I would have expected a better line at one week late. I’d be concerned it wasn’t a viable pregnancy. I’ve had these before and only got these lines very early on and if they didn’t get stronger very quickly like a day or two then it never ended well.
I hope that’s not what’s happening in your case and you have your dates wrong or ovulated late. But get your bloods repeated after 48hours to assess rise in hcg. Good luck.

Please update if you can when you get the results. Especially if the blood work is negative. It helps others in the future know how bad clearblue can be. If its positive then I’ll stand corrected!

This was a similar case the other day with a similar line that turned out to be false.

It may not have been wrong. It’s possible to get a correct feint positive but for things not to progress as hoped. I don’t think we can assume the test was faulty.

This is obviously true. But you only have to spend time on here to see just how many people get thin lines that turn out to be wrong. Faint thick lines are a different story. I’ve been TTC for 5 years. I’ve had early losses where the tests never got dark. But I will absolutely never in my life use clearblue (with lines) again. My local EPU also told me during my last miscarriage to not use them and only use pink dye tests to check by hormones were dropping appropriately. Even when I rang to tell them I still had faint lines after 3 weeks she asked which brand I was using and doubled checked with me it definitely wasn’t clearblue.

About 3 years ago I had my first round of IVF. I used a clearblue on the day of the blood test and got an obvious thin blue line. I had my blood test 3 hours later and it was absolutely totally negative. So it was not an early loss. I was never pregnant. I put it down as a blip but had another thin line another month and I started bleeding less than an hour after the test was taken.

If these tests were true positives, a 10miu test in another brand would show as well. FRERs are even more sensitive yet for whatever reason they always show negative when people get these thin lines.

Honestly though if the OP turns out to have HCG in her blood test I will reconsider my views. But I don’t think I’ve ever seen one of these tests turn out well. And after my own years of disappointment after getting my hopes up I hate that it still happens to others.

M1451 · 19/02/2025 17:27

I will let you know what the bloodwork says. I don't want to get excited incase it is an indent. Its been 4 years of trying:(. Thats why I was so confused with the line. If it is negative I want to write to clear blue. I'd rather just do bloodwork then keep wasting money on tests too:(

Get a digital test to confirm

I got the bloodwork back. It was negative so it was an indent line:(. They're trying to figure out why I'm not getting my period. All of my bloodwork was normal unless it's from stress

I’m sorry OP.

These tests should be banned, myself and friends have all been caught out by the thin blue line.

M1451 · 20/02/2025 14:13

I'm not going to buy them again. I was so excited after 4 years and then this:(

dont dispair just yet, i had 4 blood tests that said negative, multiple pg tests that had the blue line like yours have, in the end i got some cheapo pink line tests and everyone showed a positive. end result is now nearly 14 so until period arrives its stll possible

Katemax82 · 20/02/2025 17:41

I'm so sorry, how absolutely devastating and getting your hopes up!!! I'm angry on your behalf xx
