How to know if I am feeling kicks?

At this time, I am currently 23 weeks pregnant.

I was worried about a week ago that I haven't felt any kicking yet, but was reassured that most women don't feel any kicking until a little later into their pregnancies.

I was told that most women feel a 'fluttering' sensation. I was also informed that it's normal to not feel movements constantly at this stage.

For a couple of days, I have felt a non painful throbbing sensation sometimes when I lay down on my sides or when I'm sitting.

Is that what they meant by kicking?

I sometimes get this feeling when I wear certain trousers and they press slightly against my stomach. I don't have a flat stomach (not overweight, but my stomach is just shaped like it), so I can't really tell if there is a pregnancy bump visible. I don't feel anything when I place my hand on my stomach, but was told I probably wouldn't feel anything at this stage.

Thank you

To me the earliest movements were similar to when you get kind of wind bubbles. They didn’t hurt, just felt a little odd.

If it's your first pregnancy it's normal not to feel anything yet, position of your placenta affects it too. There's no standardised normal number of kicks once you start feeling them, your baby will have its own pattern and habits so once you get to the stage of feeling it regularly it's a case of being aware when something is different compared to whatever your normal is.

For me, early kicks felt like butterflies or like bubbles popping then as they got bigger it felt like muscle spasms or a flip-flop feeling, once they got a lot bigger it was unmistakeable kicks and squirms.

Well, I hope your baby is in your uterus, not your stomach, so stop focusing there for a start 😂

I felt little bubbles very early and then pops around 15-16 weeks which turned into obvious movements.
