Mounjaro weekend struggle

Ragdollmummy1977 · 15/02/2025 11:09

Hey I started on Tuesday and honestly not felt any different and still hungry but just watching what I eat my problem is I usually work every weekend and this weekend is my weekend off. My friends want to have a wee movie night with the Bridget Jones Film with wine and munchies and I really want to go but I have just said no cause I don’t want to be sitting drinking wine and eating all night.
I feel so unsociable and I will be working next weekend but I just feel so guilty about drinking wine even though I really want too 😱

You will be fine to have it in moderation, I’ve ate popcorn, glass of wine etc meals out and still lost at least 2.5lb a week

Sacmagique75 · 15/02/2025 11:11

Go and watch the film with your friends and don’t drink wine? You’re essentially saying that unless you drink wine, you can’t or won’t socialise. That outlook is going to make any kind of weight loss endeavour entirely impossible as you will just associate trying to lose weight with cancelling your entire social life. It doesn’t need to be that way!

Newyearnewmewoooop · 15/02/2025 11:12

Just go. It’s one night. I had meal out drinking etc and still lost

Notsuchafattynow · 15/02/2025 11:22

Yeah, still go. For me MJ stopped me from wanting a second glass but it sounds like you're not there yet.

Common to popular belief, you still need to create a calorie deficit to lose weight on mj, so you do need to learn how to navigate the weekends so all your good work in the week does not go tits up. But still being able to socialise.

Itsme3167 · 15/02/2025 11:48

Hey I was the same when I started but I thought this is a long journey so I went and enjoyed everything. You’ll probably find you can’t eat as much once you have something and I’ve continued to drink with friends although the hangovers are a lot worse. I started last July and have lost 5.5 stone to date. The jab will start to take effect and you’ll not want to eat so make the most of it while you can x x x

Go healthier - load vegetable crudités with with dip made from quark and flavouring of your choice - i like onion powder and salt mixed in.

Popcorn with no added stuff

Notsuchafattynow · 15/02/2025 13:16

Contrary, not common! Oops!

Great idea thank you I shall do this and have dinner before I go so not indulging in the takeaway. My only struggle is now whether to have wine or vodka. Not sure what would be better was thinking vodka and sugar free cranberry but then reading up some
people say wine is better 😱

I’m confused. Why can’t you go and enjoy the evening without drinking alcohol?

Just say you’re driving or doing Dry February or whatever. Nobody will care surely?

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 15/02/2025 14:13

Huh? I went away for the weekend just after I started. I just ate a bit less than is usual. Don't be ridiculous

GlimmerOfGold · 15/02/2025 14:16

Is alcohol compulsory? I went out with friends to the cinema last week to watch BG and didn’t drink anything other than water. All was well.

Doggymummar · 15/02/2025 14:17

Just count it in your calories.

Sunshineandrainbow · 15/02/2025 14:17

It's not enough to survive, you've got to live!

Quote from Bridget Jones. Go and have a lovely time but take tissues ❣️

I can but I only see my friends once a month as I am a nurse and work most weekends and weekends look forward to having a couple as it’s the only time I do.

I'm watching BJ one right now.

Wine and junk food at the weekends is essentially (I assume) why you gained weight in the first place so your habits must be altered to see a difference, but you still have to enjoy your life and the changes be sustainable. Are you never going to see your pals again just becuase you don't want to gain weight? Of course not.
So go see your friends, absolutely, but just make yourself a big mug of tea or a fancy de-caf coffee or something to drink while you're all chatting. Take a plate of nice raw veggies and dip, or a plate of fruit. Your friends are the important part. Socialising is so important for all sorts of reasons. Learning how to alter the bad habits will help you in the long run.

househelp12345 · 15/02/2025 15:16

Go! Have one glass. Or a Diet Coke instead. If you remove all the fun you'll be less likely to stick at it

HellofromJohnCraven · 15/02/2025 15:30

If you have literally just started and are on the 2.5 mg draw, I would not fret too much.
It takes time to build up in my experience.
