Re scan done - want opinions :)

Hi,
I'm just wanting to get some opinions on my experience and if anyone else has gone through it before. Basically I had my 20 week scan last week and due to the baby being stuck in pelvis with legs closed the potty shot was not shown, I was however told there are 3 lines so it's a girl. Today I had a re-scan and to no surprise same thing happened, everything seemed fuzzy and the sonographer said can't get a clear view as legs are closed but I think it's a girl too. I don't know why but I'm still not convinced. Have any of you encountered this before? Has it turned out to be the assumed gender or not? Thank you. BTW I've attached pictures from today's scan not sure if they're helpful;L

Isn't that it's head?

lnks · 14/02/2025 23:02

If you're asking if scans get the sex of the baby wrong sometimes, yes they do. I know of a woman who had a boy when she had been told a girl.

Suimai · 14/02/2025 23:02

Have you posted the wrong photos, as you can’t see the potty shot area. And please can’t posters not liking the potty shot term just either zip their lips or actually be helpful

I had similar at 20wk scan. Told cldnt be certain but thought a girl. That wasn't gd enough for me to go crazy on the girly items and I wanted to do her room in pink.

I got another private scan 3D one at 30wks and she was trouble as that one too. Had to scan me a couple of times and even sent me away to get some chocolate and a dizzy sugar drink the it was walk up and down the stairs to get her moving 🙈

They were eventually able to confirm she was def a girl though but I didn't get any gd pics as she kept her foot on her face 🤣

How are we meant to see the potty shot if you’ve put up pics of the head? I think you’ve worded your thread pretty badly and people are confused. For what it’s worth I’m completely useless at potty shots, I’ve got excellent line eyes, and though sometimes I’ll look at a baby scan and genuinely don’t get an inkling what it is so will tell the parents so, I’ve managed to correctly predict the sex of every baby scan I’ve seen and had a feeling about Barr one. I’d say yours is a boy. Please let me know if I can continue my almost unbeaten record!

Suimai · 14/02/2025 23:36

Oh no I’ve zoomed in and what I thought was a body part is actually fuzzy. Can you post the 12 week scan?

If it helps I had two 20.week scans, found out at the second it was a girl. I then had a 28 week growth scan and panicked a bit as I'd given away a load of boys clothes. She said yes definitely a girl and it's not that common to be told the wrong gender. Not born yet so can't confirm 100%.

You can always book a private scan if you want to double check? If you have a spare 50 quid.

It's not letting me post the pictures from the previous scan keeps saying sensitive image

Thanks yep for my peace of mind I might have to just book myself in for a private scan.

If you can afford it you could pay privately to do non invasive prenatal testing (NIPT), it uses maternal blood to work out gender of baby by checking for y chromosomes present in maternal blood.

JobHuntingMum · 15/02/2025 00:03

OP did you know you've posted identifying information on your scan photos? Just thought I'd say in case you want to get them taken down!

Crispynoodle · 15/02/2025 00:55

So the three lines mentioned often resemble burger baps which usually indicate a girl. The sonographer is very unlikely to tell you the sex unless they're absolutely sure

Househunter2025 · 15/02/2025 01:18

The 3 lines referred to are the genitals. You can't tell sex from a picture of the head

I forgot to add this image of the scan. Clueless about what part it is? Anyone know?

I instantly felt boy from the first pic too, though I have no track record for correct/incorrect guesses 😅

It's a lot of money tbh and I don't have a job at the moment.
