Little Wandle Book Bands Reception Year

My dds school uses Little Wandle Big Cat books. If your school uses this what level books are your reception age children reading? I'm wondering if my child is a bit behind where she should be.

What level is she on?

Not yet, it’s parents in evening in a months time

shes bringing home phase 2 set 5 books

That is expected for this point in reception. Can she read it?

Mine is phase 2 Set 3

They would have learned all the sounds of phase 3 (ee, oo, er, igh, ear, etc), but I think being on phase 2 books ( practicing,a-z, plus eventually th, sh, etc) is pretty normal/on track too. Getting the basics of blending, especially digraphs-- is hard! There is also a focus on expanding exposure to common tricky words at the moment. I'm expecting they will start to learn alternative spellings for phonemes after half term.

Yes she can read it, she sounds out some of the words but can read some by sight so when she’s reading it it’s a mixture of fluent words and sounding out words in the sentence. Thank you that’s good to know then. I noticed some of her friends taking home much harder books but maybe they are at the more advanced end then?

She’s summer born so I’m always a bit worried about her potentially being behind.
