I'm feeling sorry for myself tonight. We're having a hard time as a family my Dad is on End of Life and today has been a rubbish day. Tonight it was difficult choosing a Valentine's Day card for my Mum from my Dad. However the shop assistant did make me laugh when he raised an eye brow as I bought a To My Wife card as well as a To my Husband card for my OH 😂 hope some of you also had some funny moments today you don't mind sharing.

A year 9 student showing me round all the lizards, frogs and snakes (baby lizards!) in the school zoo - I was having a day totally stuck at my computer and took ten minutes for a walk and ended up chatting to her for ages - it was lovely.

My sister is thinking about doing an art course in France and told my dad who's invited himself. He's like Alf Garnet. It's made me smile all day.

I’m sorry to hear about your Dad @HappyMamma2023

Mine’s just a small thing, I finally mastered the bossanova bounce on the piano! Made me smile 😊

Poisonwood · 11/02/2025 22:24

My children were hysterical with laughter - they’d put all the pillows and quilts in the house in a mountain at the bottom of the stairs and were taking turns jumping in to it for ages.

Poppity3 · 11/02/2025 22:25

Unmumsnetty hugs to you @HappyMamma2023

I heard a woodpecker today! Working in the forest so not a big surprise, but made me stop and smile 😊

I'm so sorry about your Dad Happymama x
I lost my brother a couple of months ago so I've been in a bit of a funk, it's my birthday on Friday and one of my colleagues gave me a card today, I was so touched she remembered Smile

coronafiona · 11/02/2025 22:33

My daughter told me a story of someone falling off their chair in maths today. The way she told it make me chuckle. The teacher asked a question and then suddenly there was a big thud apparently!

NameChanges123 · 11/02/2025 22:41

Awwwww, really sorry to hear about your dad...

murasaki · 11/02/2025 22:47

My friend who suffers from depression agreeing to coming out for a birthday drink and laughing at the card I got him.

XenoBitch · 11/02/2025 22:50

I attended a mental health support group today, and a lady was laughing so much, she was crying. She said it was the first time she had laughed like that in years.

coastergirl · 11/02/2025 22:53

My 5yo was invited to a birthday party at a soft play after school today. I've never seen a bunch of kids so excited to see each other! You'd never believe they'd been together at school half an hour earlier. It was gorgeous, pure joy. My eldest who is 9 and autistic, sat with me having his tea, doing ridiculously complex maths "for fun". It made me so happy to see them both just enjoying being themselves.

So sorry about your dad OP.

My mum had an operation today. I was telling my nearly 4 year old that 'Grandma had her operation, she's ok and having a picnic at the hospital before coming home'. My little ones response 'Does that mean she's not old now?' It really made me laugh, it was an arthritis operation, not cosmetic of any kind!

I’m so sorry 😢 I went through similar a few years ago, it’s heartbreaking. Sending you and your family all the strength.
One of my non-verbal students gave me a hug and a high-five today. It made my day and his mum was ecstatic which made me so happy.

EveryKneeShallBow · 11/02/2025 22:57

My 2 year old grandson came in from nursery and asked me why I wasn’t wearing my glasses. I told him I d sat on them. He gave an exasperated sigh and rolled his eyes “Nana, you have to be more careful!” Indeed I do.

tangobravo · 11/02/2025 22:58

My sweet second born was moved from NICU to LDU today and is hopefully one step closer to coming home ❤️

Ohyeahwaitaminute · 11/02/2025 23:01

@HappyMamma2023 Sending you love and prayers 💐

I had a smile today when helping someone sort out their visa to the uk. She’s in a very bad situation and I’ve driven nearly 100 miles with her this week to find someone to talk to. Today we achieved it…and she was heard…properly heard.

Hopefully we’ve got the ball rolling…

This might surprise you, but my biggest smile today was when my boyfriend of several years dumped me! I'd been wondering how to break up with him for quite a while, so it was a big relief, and we're still friends.

MedusaAndHerFavourites · 11/02/2025 23:06

Have been quite low today so my first genuine smile has been at this lovely thread. So thank you.

Sansan18 · 11/02/2025 23:08

Two of my black feral cats who are sisters linked tails and approached me with loud purrs when I was feeding them. That's such progress for them.

hereismydog · 11/02/2025 23:10

My 7 week old, who is suffering so badly with colic and who has been smiling at everyone but me (always when I go to the toilet or to get a drink!) beamed at me this morning 🥰

I’m so sorry about your Dad, I lost mine very suddenly at the start of last year and there are no words to describe the pain. My little boy has the same birthmark as my Dad, so I like to think he was sent to me at just the right time to heal my heart a little bit.

Bbq1 · 12/02/2025 00:26

I'm trying to attract Robins and small birds to my garden. Today was the first day i saw a bird (other than the too big pigeons!) use my window feeder - a little blue tit!

HappyMamma2023 · 12/02/2025 12:00

Such lovely responses. Thank you everyone
