QUOTE : “Hi all! I just wanted to introduce myself and share a photo that I took …”

What is this freakin’ irritating trend with this sentence that keeps appearing from various sources on Facebook? “A photo that I took”??? Then the photo is not grand scenery, it’s a photo of themselves.

For a start it’s bad English. Secondly, the person sounds simple. Thirdly, why can’t people just say “Here’s a photo of me/myself” and at least say where to make it slightly more interesting?

Rant over.

It’s a prompt from Facebook. Take it up with Meta.

I did it once because I assumed it was part of
the requirements for joining the group.

It's an automated prompt that Facebook generates when you join a group or page.

You get questions and rules and then it says- introduce yourself, post a photo- with that wording.

So you do.

And then you feel a fool when you realise you didn’t need to!

For a start it’s bad English.

"Here's a photo of myself," would be far worse English, tbf.

OMG I have noticed this and started to wonder if it was a troll/scam/something dodgy.

Thanks for the explanation. Now I can just get irked and not suspicious!

Better than ending each post with "hope you like it"... A full stop at the end of the sentence will suffice.

I haven't noticed this (yet).

The one I hate is "pic so we don't get lost"

Confused

Thanks for the comments. I thought people were copying and pasting, rather than Fb/Meta generating it. But even so, people are choosing to do it and are sticking with the wording. I’d be doing an edit.
