Any GP urgent question about my ecg

Had an ecg nearly two weeks ago, nothing sinister came up according to nurse at the time, but they made an appointment for me today. GP said all rhyme looks fine etc but said left side might show signs of ventricular atrophy or hypertrophy, not sure which one he said , but he isn’t sure so referred me for eco cardio. The thing is it’s left me worrying even though he said not to worry! My blood tests are fine, only one is hormones are showing peri and he said this can sometimes be the cause but is sending me for echo to be sure. The thing is if it’s serious why not send me straight away to get one done! Instead of making me wait.

GP sounds sensible. It is a routine thing, not an urgent one. Hope the echo's reassuring.

Yeah, maybe it’s me but I didn’t like the sound of left side ventricular. However, he did say he isn’t sure. He told ‘em to take some Kalms and relax.

If it was urgent you would be told to go to a&e straight away.

I suspect it’s because it takes time to get an echocardiogram appointment and your need isn’t particularly urgent.

I needed both an ECG and an echocardiogram because my cancer treatment can cause heart issues. The referral went in from my oncologist towards the end of November. I just had the echo end of January.
