Cold/Virus where you feel dizzy?

CoolPlayer · 09/02/2025 13:08

Anybody else had a virus recently where you just feel off and dizzy? I woke up one morning earlier in the week and the whole room was really spinning and since then I’ve had cold symptoms but also my head just feels off and dizzy all the time! Wondered if this is something going around atm

Had this all week. Also headache that wouldn't budge.

Blackalice · 09/02/2025 13:10

Sounds like covid or something in your inner ears. Get well soon xxx

BorgQueen · 09/02/2025 13:11

Had it for a week and today I’m all stuffed up and have sinus pain.

Catontoof · 09/02/2025 13:35

CoolPlayer · 09/02/2025 14:58

It's not just you, but it's worrying when it happens.
A couple of years ago, I had come back from abroad with a stinking cold. On the flight home my ears hurt, usually flying doesn't affect them.
A few days later, I woke up feeling ill (like I had the flu) and the room was spinning. It lasted about 4 days, it was horrendous.
I was told it was the norovirus, which was doing the rounds here, but as far as I knew, no one else had the vertigo.

Caroparo52 · 09/02/2025 15:33

Have twice had the headache and dizziness. Stayed in bed for 12 hours until it passed. Couldn't do anything else.
Definitely think it was Covid.

OneLoyalGreyFish · 09/02/2025 15:40

I woke up this morning feeling dizzy, staggered to the loo and couldn’t get my eyes to focus properly and it was if the room was tilting. It’s settled a bit now but still that sense of room tilting if I turn my head quickly. Other than feeling slightly nauseous I have no other symptoms (cold etc) 🤷🤔

OneLoyalGreyFish · 09/02/2025 15:41

@CoolPlayer hope you feel much better soon.

Have you had earache recently?
I ask because that's exactly how I felt, the room was tilting. I had to use the wall to walk back to bed.

FromTheFirstOldFashionedWeWereCursed · 09/02/2025 15:44

Three people in my office have had this during the week - heavy cold symptoms, dizziness, headache for days. It's covid.

OneLoyalGreyFish · 09/02/2025 15:45

@NovemberMorn no, nothing like that, I rarely get earache so would definitely notice if I had. It’s just strange.

JerrySprinter · 09/02/2025 15:47

I'm relieved to hear I'm not alone! I've been staggering around like a drunk for the past couple of weeks!

Been waking up with headache most days, too!

Jeansandfleece · 09/02/2025 15:55

My son’s had this. He said he kept feeling like he was falling to one side.
Also cold, headache, aches etc. probably covid I suppose

CoolPlayer · 11/02/2025 17:14

Thought I was feeling much better yesterday but the dizziness is back again today! Hope everyone’s feeling better x

I've had intense nausea and dizziness since Dec now. I don't have the cold though. I feel really odd.

ScottBakula · 11/02/2025 17:41

I can tell when I am getting a colds because I get dizzy , light headed, and if I stand / sit / lie down / turn around at a normal speed I get spots in my vision and feel like I am going to fall over.
I apparently have quite narrow sinuses which get full of mucus very easily which in turn affects my balance and hearing .
I swear people must think I have been drinking at 6am as I walk to the bus stop

Omg I’m so glad I found this thread and it’s current. I’ve had this for the past 3 days. It’s horrible. Mostly headaches that won’t go away and horrible vertigo type feeling/dizziness. It’s so unsettling. Worse when I look in a mirror or open the fridge. Idk why. Was trying to research what virus would cause this. Thought I had occipital neuralgia at first because I felt a pinch on my neck muscles that sent a tingle up my skull… got that from sleeping in a poor position. But my kids have had fevers all week and I’m sure I got a virus on top of that. How long did it take for everyone’s vertigo to go away? Please update.

ShatParp · 13/02/2025 21:22

Yes! I've had the dizziness for a week, other symptoms have been a runny nose and feeling really exhausted and some CRAZY dreams! I wondered if it was covid but nobody else in the house seems to have it!

LakieLady · 13/02/2025 21:26

I often get really bad dizziness with a cold. I keep Stugeron in the house, just in case. You can buy it over the counter, and it works a treat.

MeandBobbyMcGoo · 13/02/2025 21:27

I had this!! First had really bad dizziness, so much so that I vomited (but I do tend to get motion sickness) thought it was my ears, then 2 days later a bad cold that wiped me out for a week - zero energy, stuffy nose, mild fever etc, but very exhausted.

CoolPlayer · 25/02/2025 12:21

Just wanted to update i have days where it seems better now and out of nowhere it will come back and I will feel light headed and off it very odd but hopefully it will just disappear altogether soon hope everyone else is okay! x

@CoolPlayer
sorry to hear you’re still not 100%, fingers crossed you feel much better soon.

Val1985 · 23/04/2025 17:52

I'm so glad I found this thread! How are you feeling now @CoolPlayer?

I was at work today and all of a sudden felt very woozy, as if I would faint. Went to the loo and stuck my head between my knees and thought that would be it. Went back in and it happened again at which point I told my colleague and called my husband to collect me.

Came home and felt so so cold, followed by3 episodes of diaherra. Called down to my GP and she thinks it's likely viral, but I did mention I had felt a bit woozy like that after a long walk last month but that passed almost immediately.

I did covid test and was negative but have definitely had a virus this month. And I didn't know a kind of pre fainting feeling was a thing?

GP did refer me to an assessment unit as my insurance covers. She says they do everything including bloods and scans if needed on the day and would be worth it even for reassurance.
