Cervical punch biopsy results take longer...

Or less time if there's any abnormalities found? Or is it all just the same time frame, regardless?

I was told 2-3 weeks, but they're usually back within 1-2 days. They said I would receive a letter or might get a phone call.

How long did your cervical biopsy take to come back, and what was the result?

(Sorry I have cheekily put this in the AIBU section for traffic).

I was told six weeks but I got mine back within a few days. I don’t even think it took 1 week.

My results were CIN1 - They were happy to leave them untreated and 1 year later they had cleared on their own.

Results came through the post.

Thank you @SpringBunnyHopHop

The wait is the worst. I rang up today, and the receptionist said that they aren't back yet, and that she was really sorry. I felt awful ringing up, but explained I was worried, and know the letters can take a while, and was just checking incase anything was on the system.

It has only been 2 weeks, just with the nurse saying they're usually back within 1-2 days it has me worried sick! Dh has told me the lab is probably busy, and it'll just be that.

Hopefully some more lovely ladies will come on and put my mind at rest!

You shouldn’t feel bad about calling 🙂
I hope your results come back soon.

The lab will process them when they process them. Doesn't matter if the results are good or bad. I waited 8 weeks for my results. All clear.

I've had CIN 3 and VIN 3 ( Vulval) and both times got a call 2 days later. Fingers crossed for a quick and positive communication for you OP.

Thank you so much, sorry about TMI, but I've had shooting pains up my vagina which isn't helping my worrying. Did you experience that?
Sorry that you had to go through them finding those abnormalities; that must have been scary.

Still no biopsy results, rang today and the secretary said they aren't back yet. Does waiting longer mean a better result in anybodies experience?

I'm sorry that you are having to wait for your results. It can be really unsettling.
In some areas of the country there is a huge backlog in histology reporting, with a lack of staff in both the laboratory and the pathologists required to report the slides.
Hopefully you will get the report soon. I must say 1-2 days is extremely fast, almost unheard of in my area.

Thank you, I had results from the same lab just before Christmas, and they came back fast; that particular biopsy was benign with no cell changes too.
I think this is why I am getting myself a bit worked up! Dh is saying they could be low on staff, or just a higher workload at the moment. I know this is the most logical explanation, but it plays on my mind. I'm having a word with myself, because I was even analysing the secretary's tone of voice on the phone. She was so nice, and I was starting to think why?! Does she know this wait is not a good sign etc. 🤯

There are backlogs in labs across the country and any biopsy from a screening programme (so incl cervical biopsies) can only be reviewed by certain histopathologists, not anyone in the lab, so the wait can be longer. Being reported sooner or later doesn't ever seem to correlate with the result. Try not to worry,.if it was going to come back as anything sinister they probably would have seen this already when taking your biopsy and prepared you accordingly.
