Well known holiday park have cancelled the caravans we booked-paid deposit and insurance on 1...(2 @£30 each to choose own plot on the park) other charges also like early check in have stayed the same.. But apparently our vans aren't bronze now but gold ones in their place. At gold blooming prices!! They have told me I need to rebook the plots. Great not a huge deal. Expect the cheapest self select ones are now £80+ each.... Quite disgusted this is allowed. Been for about a decade to the same park. Dh is all for cancelling.. Except all the cheaper end sites will be booked likely with the cheaper holiday gone! Have emailed a last ditch request to see if they can do anything.
Anything except the requests for the next payment!!

Is this £80 for a caravan for the whole week or £80 on top of the cost of a caravan?

User67556 · 04/02/2025 15:52

Is it haven or a one off independent site? Why did they cancel your bookings?

Springflowersmakeforbetterhours · 04/02/2025 15:52

£80 on top of each booking cost!! Some wanted up to £400 extra for prime spots!! We only wanted a cul de sac!!

The caravan has physically been replaced on our plot with a Posher one - gold standard. Ours was bronze... Been booked for months.

I would definitely argue that the cost is theirs to pay!

Edited to add: when I've had this issue previously with love holidays and ended up with a more expensive hotel, they have not expected the extra cost!

Motomum23 · 04/02/2025 15:57

That's madness. I would expect them to swallow the cost and would most certainly kick up a stink about it. You have booked and paid upfront its not your fault they changed the caravan.... the only other option I suppose would be if they refunded your choosing deposit and stuck you anywhere!?!

In that case you shouldn't have to pay extra. Is it a big company or a small site?

DancingHippos · 04/02/2025 16:20

Which company is this? I wonder if they have form for this

Lyn348 · 04/02/2025 16:29

It's not your fault it's changed! They should definitely cover the cost of the upgrade. Contact them to complain and if you don't get anywhere then complain on their SM.

Haven.... Like I say have been loyal guests for 10 years!!
We have sucked up the odd small issue (cleaning issues usually) once a fire extinguisher had already been used!.. But when it comes to cold hard cash and covering their error it stinks!! Still awaiting a reply...

I think they have to offer the same level of accommodation or an upgrade if the original booking becomes unavailable? (For no extra cost?)
Doesn't matter why it's unavailable really, it just is, so either they offer you a Bronze plot at the same price you booked at or honour the original booking including the upgrade.

ClockingOffers · 04/02/2025 17:00

I'd argue back that they're in breach of contract if they try to make you pay more.

Your deposit was in part payment of the entire fee in order to secure the booking.
