Many people might not be aware but last night there was an incident on MN spanning several hours.

There is an ongoing thread in Site Stuff but if you don’t frequent that board then you won’t realise.

I hope to God that nothing of that nature happens again but please remember that reporting posts after 11pm does not work. You will need to post in Night Watch to have the post/thread looked at and hidden -

Yes I'd heard about last night's incident. Awful! Thankful that I wasn't online late yesterday evening.

I did not realise the 'report' button didn't work after 11. That seems ridiculously early. I will avoid Mumsnet later, fearful of a repeat.

myotherusernamesarebetter · 03/02/2025 18:49

Nobody should have to know this, should they. It’s a total shitshow.

iCantStopppEatinggg · 03/02/2025 18:50

What happened??I must have missed it. I’m on here often but totally missed last nights incident.

Stickystickysticky · 03/02/2025 18:52

The report button should be made available to the night mods , having to mess about trying to find the Nightwatch sub then typing the name of the offending thread (are we allowed to copy and paste a link, not sure due to the legalities of sharing disturbing images or content) is ridiculous.

Please use the correct terminology, it’s Child Sexual Abuse images.

It really does matter.

I had no idea that MN still uses volunteers overnight despite being a successful business. At what point does that become exploitation??

I'll use whatever terminology I choose thank you.

MaMoosie · 03/02/2025 19:09

Please don’t share links to CSA. If the nightwatch need to know where the images are then the title of the thread should do.

Even if it offends victims?

Even though it minimises what is actually happening?

It does matter. A lot. It is child sexual abuse images. Not porn. Educate yourself ffs!

HenDoNot · 03/02/2025 19:12

I’ve used the site for years and have never been aware of the ‘Nightwatch’ until today.

I can’t get over the fact that the multi million pound business that is Mumsnet, relies on volunteers, to make sure its users don’t unwittingly see images of child sex abuse, rather than pay for proper moderators 24/7.

Absolutely astonishing.

There were posts on multiple threads with images of child sexual abuse. Not links, not comments, the images right there. A number of us reported them but had no idea that the report button didn’t work.

Most ignorant thing I've read all day. Children can cannot engage in porn, they are being abused.
