This so-called roundabout is a disaster waiting to happen

How on earth do you drive this junction? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c4gpv96lyp4o

Where are the give way lines?
Where are the pedestrian crossings?

Can you turn right, or do you have to go around the central division?

According to the article, this is supposed to make drivers more aware of pedestrians. I think if I was driving it I would be so distracted by all the 'road art', and by looking for instruction marks on the road, that I'd be more likely to hit a pedestrian, not less! Besides, do the pedestrians understand how to cross it? Painting rainbow flags over zebra crossings confuses road users - this is possibly even worse.

Markings on our roads are strictly utilitarian. They inform and instruct road users. They are fundamental to road safety, so clarity and consistency are critical.

Although more artistic i can see where the pedestrians are going to be. I also know to give way to the right on a roundabout....if i didn't i shouldn't be driving.

It will only take one water pipe excavation to ruin that design.
they will never repaint the cut up sections properly.
So this is a complete waste .

If those are official pedestrian crossings, they are illegal.

The requirements for zebra crossings are given here
https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1997/2400/schedule/1/made

If they are not official pedestrian crossings, pedestrians are just crossing a decorated road surface where vehicles have no obligation to stop for them.

That's just from a pedestrian's point of view.

This Instrument revokes the existing Regulations relating to Zebra and Pelican pedestrian crossings and the General Directions relating to Pelican crossings and replaces them with a single Instrument. This comprises Regulations relating to both Zebra a...

Of course you know to give way to the right on a roundabout, but is that big end bit with the circular design of leaves a roundabout? Or is it one end of an elongated roundabout?

Agree OP. What a mess.

Are those legally roundabouts if there are no roundabout signs and road markings?

I know how to give way on a roundabout. I would have no idea that was a roundabout. It certainly doesn't look like one.
